Family: The House of Gaunt is a pure-blood family descended from Cadmus Peverell and Salazar Slytherin, and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. The first known member of the Gaunt family was Corvinus, a wizard born in the 1700s. Corvinus was responsible for secretly protecting the entrance to the chamber of secrets, having concealed it behind plumbing fixtures and a sink, so that those who knew how could still access the Chamber. The Gaunt family has always taken great care to keep their blood pure and their abilities going.

History: A few generations after Corvinus, the Gaunt family split into two lines, one that produced wizards like Marvolo Gaunt, Merope Gaunt and, at last, Tom Riddle and they lived in England. Castiel's family belongs to the other line, the one that lived in the north of Scotland, secluded from even other wizarding families. Lazarus Gaunt, his father taught him to be secretive about his heritage because after Lord Voldemort's downfall, people were very sensitive when it came to the old families. They prefer to stick to the shadows, only to strike when something is worth the risk. Castiel's mother is Keres Gaunt, Lazarus' cousin.


Appearance: Azrael is quite tall and slightly tanned. His eyes are of a very dark brown colour that they appear to be almost black, his hair is the same shade. He likes to dress elegantly to keep up a good appearance.

Personality: Azrael is a cold and logical person that likes to observe people to better find their weaknesses before he strikes them down. He does not care for the fanatical following of Voldemort and sees Tom Riddle as a mishap in their family line. He can be very arrogant, though he hides it well behind a charming demeanor. He makes friends only with those that proved themselves worthy and everyone who dares to go behind him will be taken down instantly.


"Mother, I will go out and train." he said, leaving through the back door while his mother merely nodded at him in agreement. Azrael made his way towards the forest that surrounded their manor, filled with all kinds of magical creatures to keep muggles far away. The last thing his family wanted was to be inconvenienced by those lowly creatures. They were easy to kill of course, but since Voldemort's fall, the ministry was taking even better care of the little muggles. Azrael truly could not care less whether they lived or died, as long as they did not get in his way. One could always use some hard-working slaves after all.
