Family:It all started with a beautiful Russian woman named Anastasia. Anastasia wanted more for her life than to stay in Russia and work at her mother's clothing store. At the young age of 19, she decided to run away and never return. She ran away to Ireland. In Ireland she met a handsome young lad named Peter Matthews. Peter was a red headed man with blue eyes, who fell hard for Anastasia after hearing her sing in a bar he regularly attended. Peter was a man of power and was very rich. He usually got what he wanted, and that night it was Anastasia. He easily seduced her, and nine months later, they had a beautiful black haired, blue eyed baby boy whom Peter named Rowan Matthews.
Peter never told Anastasia of his pureblooded magical abilities. When Rowan acted out, Peter liked to play a twisted game, and blame it on Anastasia's "bad mothering abilities". He quickly became abusive, and that was when Anastasia decided that she needed to leave Peter right then and there. So she left Ireland with her halfblooded magical child. In England, Anastasia wanted to make a better life for her and baby Rowan who was a bouncing baby boy of the age of two years old. Because of Peter, Anastasia believed that she was a smarter woman who wouldn't fall for the first man she saw. That changed when she found Rufus Ringer. Rufus was a poorer muggle man who owned his own butcher store. Anastasia fell for his charm, and sense of humor.
It was right around the one year mark of their relationship when Anastasia decided to introduce Rufus to her magical child. At the age of three, Rowan was doing things that Anastasia couldn't explain. Rufus found him wonderful, and six months after that, Anastasia married him. It wasn't the rich and powerful life she was used to with Peter, but Anastasia loved it the way it was. And Rufus loved Rowan, so she couldn't ask for anything more.
History: In the presence of Rufus, Rowan grew up a happy child. He always had everything he needed, and didn't take anything for granted. He was always a very happy boy and had a big smile on his face. Rufus grew to love Rowan as if he were his own son, and still, he couldn't explain all the things that Rowan was doing. Anastasia was worried about her child, as she never knew that Peter was a pureblooded wizard, and she never wanted to contact him again (and never did). Rowan grew up the awkward child. He never saw himself fitting in, and as he grew older, he stayed inside the butcher shop, or in his own room.
Anastasia tried to push him to make more friends, and go outside and play with the neighborhood kids, but no matter how much she pushed, Rowan pulled away. He felt out of place in his family and he didn't know why. It wasn't until he was 8 years old that he was staring at a candle flame one night alone in his room, when he made it go out, and come back on without even blowing on it. Rowan got excited but didn't tell anybody. He kept messing with the candle flame, and making it go in and out, so much that it had accidentally caught on the curtain in his room. Panicked, Rowan ran downstairs to the butcher shop, and got out. He didn't tell anybody it happened until the entire building was burned to the ground. Rufus had gone to the store and was out for the night, and Rowan didn't realize that his mother was still in the store.
Rowan's mother died that day as she had gotten trapped in the big freezer and had no way of escaping. Rufus at first, didn't know what to do with Rowan as he was out of control. Rufus kept him locked in his room for 2 years until his Hogwarts letter came. Rufus thought that it would be best to send him away that way he wouldn't have to deal with the boy who killed his own mother. Rowan was distraught that his own father figure didn't want him, but he felt that if he wanted to accept responsibility for his actions, that this would have to be it, so he reluctantly went to Hogwarts.
Rowan was the awkward boy who didn't seem to fit in anywhere. His shyness didn't help much either. He does pretty decent in his classes, but not so much on the making friends part. He's really trying to please his father and find out more about his mother's past and where he came from, and why he is the way he is.
Appearance:Rowan is a tall dangly guy with dark hair and blue eyes to match his mothers. He is about 6'1, and has a square shaped face, and a round button nose.
